If you are over 40 years old and have not had a Blood Pressure check within the last 5 years, please book an appointment with our healthcare assistant. 

Minor Injury Units are based at Camborne/ Redruth Hospital and Helston Community Hospital.

Camborne/Redruth Community Hospital is a Minor injuries and Illness Service, its open from 8am to 10pm seven days a week, including bank holidays. An Xray service is also available from 9am to 8pm, Monday to Friday; and noon to 6pm Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays. You don't need to book a appointment  and parking is free.

The West Cornwall Urgent Care Centre based at West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance offers Doctor cover 24 hours a day, 7 days a week  and treats the following conditions:

1. Minor Burns, scalds and injuries.

2. Simple fractures (legs, arms, ankles and wrists). 3. Cuts which require stitching.

4. Chest and urinary infections.

5. Minor falls.

Appointments
The practice strives to meet the needs of all patients. All consultations are by appointment. We offer a mix of appointments, some bookable two weeks in advance, some available 48 hours and 24 hours in advance and we also have appointments available on the day.

We also offer an Extended Hours Service especially for patients who are unable to attend during our normal surgery opening times.  Appointments with a Doctor or Practice Nurse are available from 18.30 pm until 19.45 pm on  Tuesdays each week, at Praze.  All evening appointments must be booked in advance by telephone or in person during our normal opening hours..

Home Visits
Where possible please try to come to the surgery. If you know you are going to need a visit please telephone in the morning. You will be asked to give a short explanation of the problem so that the doctor can be notified and decide how urgent your request is.

Community Midwives

If you become pregnant you will be allocated a midwife depending on where you live.
Your midwife will provide you with all the information you require. Please ensure you have her contact details and depending on your address she will tell you where to attend for your antenatal checks.

Community Nurses

Community Nurses/District Nurses
This service will be arranged by the doctors or hospital should you require it. When you are allocated a district nurse please ensure you have their contact numbers. The nurses work in specific teams depending on where you live.
Community Matron

We are pleased to have Emma Clifford, Community Matron, now attached to our team. She is able to provide additional help and support to some of our patients.

Specialist Palliative Care Nurses
Specialist Palliative Care Nurses are attached to the surgery and work closely with the district nursing team.

Health Visitors

A health visitor runs a ‘drop in’ session at Praze on the first Wednesday of the month from 1.30pm – 2.30pm. If you wish to speak to the health visitor, contact the surgery for a telephone number.

Counsellors

Outlook South West provide psychological therapy services to our patients.   Cognitive Bevahioural Therapists (CBT), Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and Psychotherapists hold sessions at this surgery. Your doctor will discuss this option if it is considered beneficial or you can refer yourself directly to Outlook South West be telephoning 01208 871414 to arrange an appointment with a Wellbeing Practitioner..
